Paging Creatives: August 2026 Online Book Club / Zoom

Our August selection is The Art Spy by Michelle Young.

Set in Nazi-occupied Paris, this true story follows Rose Valland, an unassuming curator at the Jeu de Paume Museum who used her overlooked position to secretly document every piece of art the Nazis looted and shipped out of France. While the museum operated as a hub for stolen masterpieces, Valland quietly tracked shipment after shipment, often right under the noses of high-ranking officials, risking her life to preserve a record that would later help recover thousands of stolen works.

With its focus on protecting creative legacy, the quiet power of an overlooked role, and one woman's determination to safeguard the value of art that others tried to erase, it felt like a meaningful pick for Paging Creatives.

We'll be discussing The Art Spy on Tuesday, August 25 at 8pm EST on Zoom.
