Paging Creatives: October 2026 Online Book Club / Zoom

Our October selection is The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde.

Set in Victorian London, the novel follows Dorian Gray, a young man whose beauty captivates painter Basil Hallward, who creates a portrait so striking that Dorian wishes his own likeness could bear the weight of age and sin while he himself stays forever young. As Dorian pursues a life of hedonism and excess under the influence of the witty and cynical Lord Henry Wotton, the portrait secretly absorbs every mark of his moral decay, growing more grotesque with each passing year while Dorian's outward beauty never fades.

With its meditation on art as a mirror of the self, the tension between aesthetic obsession and integrity, and the cost of chasing beauty at the expense of substance, it felt like a fitting pick for Paging Creatives.

We'll be discussing The Picture of Dorian Gray on Tuesday, October 27 at 8pm EST on Zoom.
